’Whale’ shows up along Paris’ Seine River

Author: Staff Reporter Updated: 10:31 04-08-2017

A massive sperm whale washed up in Paris on Saturday. Sounds crazy, right? Well, there’s more to the story than that.

Finding a whale on the banks of the freshwater Seine River, round 160km inland, you’d be forgiven for being a bit confused, and even quite shocked.

Well, that’s exactly the reaction the ‘Captain Boomer Collective’ was going for when it installed the extremely lifelike model of a whale carcass in the heart of France’s capital – so lifelike, in fact, that it reportedly even smelled like the real thing!

According to Mashable, the group of artists uses the whale to raise awareness around the effect humans have on whales.

At more than 15 metres long, the ‘art installation’ certainly grabbed the attention of bewildered and mortified locals.
