April’s top mobile games

Author: Megan Ellis Updated: 16:17 21-06-2016

App Annie has revealed the top mobile games for April, with throwbacks and franchises dominating the ranks.

The rankings look at mobile games on both the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store.

The most popular game in terms of downloads was free multiplayer game, which showed a rapid climb up the ranks last month.

The game is a throwback to Nokia's old Snake mobile game (oh, remember those days?). The aim: make your snake as long as possible.

Piano Tiles remained in second place while Clash Royale placed in third.

One of our favourite addictive games, Stack, placed in sixth place.

But the most downloaded game is not necessarily the one which makes the most money. In fact, the game with the highest revenue in April was Monster Strike – which didn't even feature in the top ten downloads.

Another throwback, Disney Crossy Road – a new release – appeared in the rankings at number 10.

Other popular games which were named in App Annie's recent top Google Play apps of all time rankings and placed in last month's top ten include My Talking Tom, Candy Crush Saga and Clash of Clans.
