Man City star’s horrific injury revealed

Following his side’s 5-0 win against Liverpool, Manchester City keeper Ederson has revealed the full extent of the facial injury he picked up.

After being caught in the face by a high boot from Sadio Mane, the 24-year-old was carried off on a stretcher.

Mane was shown a controversial red card for a high boot and despite appearing to have his eyes set on the ball, he was instructed to miss Liverpool's next three matches.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola said: "I spoke to the doctor and he said it's not a broken bone, so that is of course so important.

"I think this kind of action, Mane didn't see, he's looking at the ball and then the impact is huge.”

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp agreed that the red card was harsh and the club has launched an appeal to get the three-game ban against Mane overturned, reports.

It was also revealed that Ederson did not suffer any concussion.

Ederson later said on his official Twitter account: "Hello everyone, I'm OK, it was a shock. Important victory, thank you for all the messages."

According to, Ederson required eight stitches with one of the scars just inches away from his eye.

Mane issued a heartfelt apology to Ederson via Facebook: “I hope and wish Ederson a quick recovery.

“I am so sorry he was hurt during our accidental collision on the pitch and am sorry for him that he could not complete the match because of it.

“I pray he heals fast and is back playing very soon!”
