Crystal Palace sack manager after 77 days!

Author: Staff Reporter Updated: 15:30 11-09-2017

After a mere 77 days in charge, Frank de Boer has been sacked as Crystal Palace manager.  The team lost all four of their matches without scoring any goals; a dismal start to the Premier League season.

In November 2016, the Dutchman suffered an equally short-spell after being sacked by Inter Milan after 85 days.

The former Ajax boss succeeded Sam Allardyce, who departed after helping Palace avoid relegation last season.

De Boer held high ambitions of overhauling Palace's style and establishing them in the top flight, Skysports reports.

A statement on the club’s website read "Crystal Palace Football Club have this morning parted company with Frank de Boer.

"We would like to thank Frank for his dedication and hard work during his time at the club.

"A new manager will be appointed in due course and we wish Frank the very best of luck for the future."

According to Skysports, on Monday morning he was confirmed as the shortest-serving Premier League manager in terms of matches.

It is understood that former England boss Roy Hodgson will replace him.
