Recall issued for Bombay Sapphire Gin

Updated: 16:46 23-05-2017

A province-wide recall has been issued for Bombay Sapphire London Dry Gin in Ontario, which was found to contain nearly twice the amount of alcohol that is declared on the label.

Consumers who have purchased 1.14L bottles of the Bombay-branded gin are advised to check the label for the Lot code L16304w, which was found to have an alcohol content by volume of 77 percent — nearly double the stated alcohol volume of 40 percent on the label.

All affected bottles have been removed from store shelves in Ontario.

The product is not safe for consumption and can cause serious illness.

Customers and licensees can return the recalled product at any LCBO store for a full refund.

The LCBO is a government retailer for alcoholic beverages.
