Check out these great Table Mountain specials!

Author: Staff Reporter Updated: 17:46 13-09-2017

With weather in the Cape warming up in recent weeks, there’s good reason to take a trip up Table Mountain. The Table Mountain Cableway is embracing Tourism Month by encouraging locals to take full advantage of its year-round specials.

The Cableway is undoubtedly one of Cape Town’s most popular attractions, and for good reason – the top of the Table offers the best views in (and of) the Mother City.

A standard adult return ticket costs R225, but here are a number of ways to cut the cost!

Birthday Special

If you didn’t already know, SA citizens can take a free trip up and down the mountain on their birthday, provided you bring your SA ID along!

Cable Card

If you really can’t get enough of the highest point in Cape Town, and if one trip a year isn’t enough for you, the Cable Card entitles you to one return trip per day for a year. If you already have a Wild Card, you get 20% off the cost, which is R590 for adults and R300 for kids. Oh, and Cable Card holders also get selected discounts at the shops on top!

Kidz Season

Between May and the end of September, children under 18 can ride for free if they’re accompanied by a paying adult. The catch? Weekends, public holidays and school holidays only!

Sunset Special

From the 1st of November to the 28th of February, you can enjoy summer sundowners from 6pm for half the price. There’s no better place to watch the sun set!

Seniors and Students

Naturally, senior citizens and students are entitles to special prices, with visitors over 60 paying just R100, and students with valid student cards paying a mere R130.

Class in the Clouds

This great initiative makes it ever so affordable for schools to visit the mountain. Between March and the end of October, learners pay just R45 per trip. For every 10 primary school learners or 15 high school learners, one teacher rides for free!

Just for October, though, the Cableway will be printing discount vouchers in community newspapers during the last week of September to celebrate the attraction’s anniversary. Cut it out, bring it along, and you’ll pay just R150 per adult, with a child tagging along for free.
