Are you a lover of marine life and the mysteries of the world’s oceans? If the answer is yes, head down to the Chavonnes Battery Museum at Cape Town’s V&A Waterfront to marvel at the Underwater Photographer of the Year 2017 exhibition.

Sponsored by ORMS, the exhibition displays 50 images spanning ten categories, and will run until the end of September.

According to the museum, finalists were selected from 20 different countries, including South Africa!

“The Underwater Photographer of the Year is a London based annual competition that seeks to celebrate photography beneath the surface of the sea, lakes, rivers and even swimming pools,” it says. “This year the competition saw 4500 entries taken in 67 countries.”

The images give visitors a glimpse into daily life in the great, blue unknown, and stir the imaginations of young and old alike.

Don’t forget to explore the archaeological ruins of museum itself, as well!
