Google Drive is shutting down

Author: Staff Reporter Updated: 11:46 11-09-2017

If you’re a fan of Google Drive, get ready to say your goodbyes – the platform will be no more as of the 11th of December.

In a blog post, Google has revealed plans to end the free cloud storage service on PC and Mac, but worry not – it’ll be reborn as “Backup and Sync”, part of Google’s new “Drive File Stream” system.

From October, users will begin to receive prompts to upgrade to the new platform. Google says that you’ll find all the aid you need at its Help Center.

While Drive will only officially be shut off on the 12th of March next year, Google wants users to migrate as soon as possible.

“Say goodbye to time-consuming file syncing and any concerns about disk space,” adds the company. “With Drive File Stream, all your files are always ready for you and your colleagues.”
