The most valuable Xbox 360, PS3 games

Author: Hadlee Simons Updated: 09:01 15-02-2016

You thought R700 was an expensive price tag for a videogame? Well, it's not.

There are loads of rare titles out there, with titles like Metal Slug for the Neo Geo AES going for over R5000 by many accounts.

But what about a generation closer to the present? Well, the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 play host to some rare collectables too. So we picked a few titles collectors should keep an eye on.

Assassin's Creed 2: Master Assassin Edition (Xbox 360 and PS3)

The second game in Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed franchise is considered by many to be the high water mark of the series. Speaking of "high", you should check the price for the Master Assassin Edition of the game, which was initially sold via Gamestop only.

Expect to pay between $75 and $90 for a used bundle on Amazon, but a new package generally retails for between $230 and $400. What are you getting for your cash then?

The special edition came with the game, an 8.5-inch Ezio figurine, an artbook, a soundtrack, a Making-Of DVD and a metal case. Not bad at all.

Fallout 3: Survival Edition (Xbox 360 and PS3)

Coming in a rather fetching metal lunchbox, Fallout 3: Survival Edition was exclusively available via Amazon. So what did you get then?

For your cash, you get the aforementioned lunchbox, a Pip Boy figurine, a Pip Boy alarm clock, the collector's edition of the game and a neat artwork book.

What will the damage be? Well, you're looking at upwards of $400 online for the PC or Xbox version, but we've even spotted a PS3 version going for $800.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Prestige Edition (Xbox 360, PS3)

Probably one of the more infamous special editions around, Modern Warfare 2's Prestige Edition included a pair of night vision goggles.

The goggles didn't work as well as expected, but you also got the game, a token to redeem Call of Duty 1 and an artwork book. So pretty much a one-trick pony then.

This edition can be had for over $150 used, but new packages can be found for between $220 and $300.

Record of Agarest War Limited Edition (Xbox 360)

Yep, we expected a whacky RPG out of Japan to make this list. After all, they have a comparatively small yet rabid fanbase.

Record of Agarest War's special edition offers a bunch of extras, including an "oppai" mousepad (cleavage on a mousepad is a thing), a soundtrack and a pillowcase featuring the female lead character.

This title will cost about $150 to $160 for new packages, but used bundles drop to a minimum of about $60.

The Godfather: The Don's Edition (PS3)

Before Saint's Row and GTA 4 and 5, there was The Godfather videogame, delivering all the open-world gang-related shenanigans you could ask for. Originally released for PS2, the game then made its way to the Wii, Xbox 360 and PS3 (the latter being known as The Don's Edition).

The Don's Edition combines the Xbox 360 versions visuals with some of the Wii version's motion-controlled shenanigans (such as thrusting a controller to slam someone into a wall). You also have some minigame challenges available to differentiate this title from the other versions.

The Don's Edition can be found used for around $40 to $50, but we spotted new copies that start at $130.

Hyperdimension Neptunia Premium Edition (PS3)

It's time for another quirky Japanese title to make the list, in the form of Hyperdimension Neptunia Premium Edition.

In a rather weird premise, this RPG sees you playing as a female goddess who happens to be a videogame console, as you take on an evil goddess (who's also a piracy device). Weird yet intriguing.

Anyway, expect good used copies for around $60, but buying this new will set you back between $200 and $300. Crazy stuff.

Dead Space Ultra Limited Edition (Xbox 360 and PS3)

As the name implies, this edition of horror game Dead Space is very hard to come by? How tough is it to find? Well, only 1000 copies were made, for one.

The Ultra Limited Edition includes the game, a signed lithograph, a bonus DVD, a USG Ishimura crew patch, an artbook, an animated movie and a graphic novel. Pretty comprehensive then.

Dead Space Ultra Limited Edition costs in the region of $250 for a used copy, all the way to $2000 for a brand new bundle.

Demon's Souls: Deluxe Edition (PS3)

The title that popularised From Software's dungeon-crawling adventures, Demon's Souls also received a super special edition upon its release.

Few people predicted that Demon's Souls would go on to be the phenomenon it is today, but even fewer gamers thought to pick up the Deluxe Edition at the time.

This edition includes a soundtrack, artbook and strategy guide, making it a must if you have to collect all things Souls-related.

The Deluxe Edition can be found sealed for just over $400, but those wanting a cheaper deal can find used packages for about $140 or so.

NBA Elite 11 (PS3)

EA's NBA title is perhaps one of the top five rarest games ever, as the game was cancelled at the last second due to quality issues.

Copies were sent to stores before it was cancelled, but a few copies weren't sent back to EA, leading to some astronomical prices.

How expensive is this game in the wild then? Well, reckons you'll be paying a minimum of $900 for a used copy. A brand new copy? You're looking at just over $2200.

Uncharted 2: Fortune Hunter Edition (PS3)

Only 200 of these special edition Uncharted 2 packages were ever made, so if you stumble upon this…

Open the package (or keep it sealed for resale value) and you'll find an artwork book, replica dagger (seriously) and a strategy guide.

Interestingly enough, you couldn't waltz into the store to buy this, as packages were given away as part of a promotion by Sony.

As for a price tag, you're looking at anywhere from $1900 to $6900 on eBay. And neither of these listings were for a sealed copy, mind you.
