Trumps says he would beat Oprah in 2020 Presidency Election

Author: Staff reporter Updated: 13:45 12-01-2018

President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that he would beat Oprah Winfrey in a potential head-to-head presidential election in 2020. However, Trump states that he thinks she wouldn’t end up running.

“Yeah, I’ll beat Oprah,” he told reporters in the Cabinet Room during a meeting on immigration with members of Congress.

Following Oprah’s heart-wrenching speech at Sunday’s Golden Globes; Winfrey was boosted to the forefront of political conversation on Monday; with the potential disrupt to the Democratic primary process and challenge Trump’s Republican party.

Oprah’s two very close friends Gayle King (CBS host of “This Morning”) and Stedman Graham (long-time partner) confirm that she would definitely consider the idea. King says Oprah is “intrigued by the idea” of a presidential bid. Graham also told the Los Angeles Times that “It’s up to the people. She would absolutely do it.”

Trumps says that Oprah will be a lot of fun, noting that he knows Oprah well and has been on her show, “The Oprah Winfrey Show” in the past.

“I did one of her last shows. She had Donald Trump – this is before politics – her last week and she had Donald Trump and my family, it was very nice,” the President said.

Trump said in a tweet in 2012 that he adores Oprah and in a 1999 interview with Larry King, he said she would “always be my first choice” for a running mate.

Trump repeated said on Tuesday, “I like Oprah, I don’t think she’s going to run, she’s not going to run.”

The White House continued to field questions about a potential Winfrey candidacy on Tuesday afternoon. Sarah Sanders, press secretary, declined to engage in any questions regarding outsider candidacy.

When asked whether Winfrey was qualified, Sanders said, “Look, I disagree very much on her policies, is she a successful individual? Absolutely. But in terms of where she stands on a number of positions, I would find a number of problems with that,” Sanders said.

It’s all up to Oprah now, the 2020 Presidential Elections are around the corner so she’ll have to make up her mind sooner rather than later.
